Fitness For Duty Evaluations

A fitness for duty (FFD) psychological evaluation is a formal assessment that determines if an employee is able to perform their job duties safely and effectively. It's also used to determine if mental illness or emotional stress has affected their job performance.

A Fitness for Duty Assessment (FFD) is conducted by a psychologist who performs tests and assessments to provide feedback about an employee’s mental fitness to perform a specific job. These evaluations are usually done when a circumstance occurs that may impair an employee from successfully doing their job.
Employers can request an FFD to manage risk, safety and productivity in the workplace.

A psychological assessment can include numerous components such as norm-referenced psychological tests, informal tests and surveys, interview information, school or medical records, medical evaluation and observational data. A psychologist determines what information to use based on the specific questions being asked.
